Clermont, Florida – The Orlando Kicks FC were at home earlier this morning to take on the Cosmos FC. The Kicks dominated ball possession from the start but found themselves down 1-0 in first 8 minutes on a counter by the Cosmos team. Unfazed, the Kicks continued playing their style of possession soccer and by the 18th minute would equalize as Kendall Bobbitt received the ball from Taylor Eller, turned to her left and struck the ball with her left foot sending it into the back of the net. The Kicks continued pressing and found the back of the net again 11 minutes later as Kim Reynolds passed the ball to Bella Recinos who quickly chipped the ball to the left side of the goal for the score to make it 2-1 in favor of the Kicks. 6 minutes later Delaney Crumblish delivered a nice pass to Jody Brown for the 3rd goal of the half for the Kicks. With 3 minutes left in the first half, Cosmos FC battled hard and were able to counter attack once again to make it a 3-2 game at halftime.
The Kicks started the 2nd half strong and scored in the first 4 minutes when Mafer Contreras received a well placed pass from Nicole Barnett just outside the 18 yard box and struck the ball into the back of the net. 3 minutes later Bella Recinos found a speeding Jody Brown who scored for the Kicks for the second time on the day. 7 minutes later and just 3 minutes after a Cosmos FC goal, Bella Recinos would find the back of the net again on a nice cross from Andrea Rodriguez to make it a 6-3 game in favor of the Kicks. The Cosmos team scored again with 20 minutes left in the game and the Kicks countered with another score with less than 4 minutes remaining in the match. The final score was 7-4 for a Kicks win making it their 5th win of the season as they remain undefeated.
“This was another great win for the team. We were missing both goalkeepers today and had to rotate 3 field players at goal and still managed to perform well. We look forward to finishing off the regular season next week on a high note in preparation for the playoffs” said Coach Aristodemo.
